It was another comeback drama last night as Tottenham Hotspur beat Ajax Amsterdam by 3-2 (3-3) on aggregate to reach the champions league finals for the first time.
It would be recalled that Tottenham lost the first leg played in England a week or two ago by 0-1.
The last night match also started with a glimpse of hope for Ajax who scored 2 goals in the first half to put more pressure on their visiting opponent.
While the home team were still in the euphoria of their lead, Lucas Moura, Tottenham’s midfielder had another idea.
The Brazilian smashed three unanswered strikes past Andre Onana, the last deep into injury time, in the second half to turn the tables around.
The match ended 3-2 with Tottenham qualifying for the finals on away goals.
The team will now face English premiere league rival, Liverpool who also did a surprising comeback against Lionel Messi’s Barcelona. After losing the first leg in Spain by 3-0, Liverpool qualified for the finals by beating Barcelona 4-0.
Both English teams will face each other in the final which will be played in Spain on June 1.
