Tunmise Oluyemi, 65, a resident of Ilesa, Osun State, was murdered on her property by alleged ritualists.
In a statement on Tuesday, Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Command spokeswoman, said that the attackers had taken one of the victim’s eyeballs out.
She claimed that Tunmise, who had been missing since last Saturday, had been discovered dead on her property in the Fadahunsi neighborhood of Ilesa on Monday.
“It was reported to the police at around 1pm on Monday that one Tunmise Oluyemi, 65, who went missing last Saturday, was discovered dead on her farm in the Fadahunsi neighborhood of Ilesa at around 11.30am,” she said.
The attackers, who have not yet been named, “plucked out one of the deceased’s eyes.”
Opalola claimed that police had arrived at the scene and that Dare Oluyemi, the complainant, and other children of the deceased had resisted releasing the body to the police.
“They objected to the cops taking the body to a morgue. They declared they wanted to bury her and made violent threats,” she continued.
