Popular Lagos Oba, Saheed Ademola Elegushi, is a proud king who always wants to be the center of attention at all times. With his swag, sexual appeal and positioning, he barely works hard before stealing the headlines in the media. And this time around, he is back in the news, but for the wrong reason. The cool, calm and calculative king has been enmeshed in a fraud mess perpetuated by his cousin name Ayinde Oniru.
The youngest traditional ruler’s name was mentioned in an ongoing case before a Lagos chief magistrate’s court, sitting at Ebute Metta, Lagos case that involved Ayinde and two others.
Ayinde and his cronies were arraigned for allegedly stealing from two women under the pretence of importing and delivering some goods to a Lagos Oba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi.
They were said to have fraudulently obtained some goods worth N3.5 million between March and May from one Princess Adeleke with the pretext that the goods would be delivered to the monarch.
Apart from the aforementioned goods, the suspects were also said to have collected items like notebooks, one i-phone 5, one i-pad tablet, assorted wrist watches, gold jewelleries and a cash sum of N250,000 from their victims.
The duo were also said to have obtained N500,000 from one Jelli Elias with a promise that they would help him to buy a landed property at Lekki.
The case has now been adjourned till August 4, 2014 for further hearing, but sources said the well connected king is working underground to exonerate his name from the mess.
