Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has acquired a performing stage said to be the biggest in Africa. The stage which our source said it’s currently in the countryy was acquired for recently held Rivers State’s biggest carnival called CARNIRIV.
According to the DG, Rivers State Tourism Development Agency, Dr. Sam Dede, the customized performing stage is 140ft wide and 60ft long, making it the biggest so ever in Africa. It has also has more than 400 lighting bulbs, beautiful barricades and many other features.
The one of its kind stage we learnt was imported from one of the developed countries in conjunction with Zmirage, an event company in Nigeria.
The festival-like CARNIRIV carnival was held from December 12-18, 2014. The theme of the carnival was One love, One People, and it was aimed at promoting peace in the country.
During the event, some of Nigeria’s finest musicians, top foreign acts and even up and coming singers will have the opportunity to grace the stage, said Dede.
However, what Dede, who is also a prominent thespian failed to mention was the amount expended on acquiring the hitherto biggest stage, but he confirmed it cost quite a fortune. “When you see the stage yourself, you should be able to say the cost or rather investigates.”
