As you read, the Paramount King of Fuji music, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere is 54 years today, but he won’t be celebrating it. This is not anything close to surprise to some of his ardent followers because he has never had one and won’t be having one soon.
On why he doesn’t celebrate his birthday like many of his colleagues do, this is what the musician who is currently in London for musical shows has to say:
“Since I was born, I have never for once organized a birthday party for myself.
My birthdays are mostly done behind the closed door. I mean between myself, wife, kids and the other members of the family in my sitting room”.
“This is because, I am expecting something from God almighty and immediately I get it, of course the doors will be opened for celebrations.
I will still organize ostentatious parties for my coming birthdays but for now, I am still looking up to God to grant my request. And I believe strongly that very soon, it will all make more sense”, he said.
Obesere, also known as Omo Rapala, is a popular Fuji musician and a native of Ibadan. He was born on January 28, 1965 and brought up in Lagos State, Nigeria where he attended St Paul Primary School in Ebute Metta, and
St Jubril Martins Secondary School in Ebute Metta,
