The federal government on Friday, December 18, insisted that bandits were responsible for the kidnap of students from a school in Katsina state.
Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, dismissed claims by Boko Haram that the insurgents carried out the abductions, This Day reported.
He said the group falsely claimed responsibility for the abductions because the terrorists were seeking relevance, having been decimated.
Mohammed said the way the Buhari government responded to the abduction of the students showed that the administration attaches importance to the security of all Nigerians.
The minister said there is no government in the world that will not face the challenges of security at one time or another.
