Gradually, glitz and gleam are returning into the life of Maryam Abacha. On March 4, 2015 when she clocked 68 on earth, her joy knew no bounds. Though this was expected on her birthday, what nearly brought tears to her eyes is the love showered on her by friends and relatives who made her feel special on this special day.
The widow of the former Nigerian military ruler, General Sanni Abacha had before now claimed that she has been enduring “difficult and painful” criticism owing to her husband’s record and she found it agonising. And having had enough dose of the attack, weeks back she visited her daughter, Gumsu and her Cameroonian billionaire son-in-law, Bayero Fadil in Cameroon. It would be recalled that Gumsu and Bayero got married in 1999 and as you read their union is blessed with five kids.
And since her arrival, sources said she has had a swell time playing with the kids and enjoying the lovely atmosphere, but the climax of it was when the couple serenaded her with the music of love on her birthday. The influential couple were said to have organized a sumptuous birthday party for her at one of the best hotels in Cameroon. Scores of their friends were said to have attended the soiree.
What is now left to be known is whether Maryam’s other children will also be throwing out a party to celebrate their mother or not. It would be recalled that Maryam and Sani Abacha had three daughters and six sons, with Mohammed Abacha as the eldest surviving son.
