Amotekun Corps agents in Oyo State stopped a truck carrying a large number of young people from the North who were heading to Ogun State.
It was learned that the truck, which is said to have left from Zamfara State, was carrying more than 100 kids.
Further information was provided by our correspondent, who discovered that the truck was stopped Tuesday around 4 p.m. near University of Ibadan-Bodija Road while en route to Ogere in Ogun State.
Some of the truck’s passengers are rumored to have jumped out and run away as soon as they saw the security guards.
According to reports, the interception generated fear among the locals, who thought the guys captured were terrorists or bandits.
The Commandant of Amotekun in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Adeyanju (retd. ), stated in his speech that the individuals detained could not yet be classified as terrorists or criminals.
We didn’t detain Boko Haram members or criminals, he declared. The people we detained are present. Police officers, DSS agents, and members of the NSCDC are all present. As I speak to you, they are creating profiles of them. We stopped them and brought them here because we noticed them in a truck and thought it was unusual that they were transporting such a large number of individuals.
“We detained them and allowed other law enforcement authorities to visit and profile them.
“With it, they will be able to identify any inmates who may have escaped from custody among them. They will learn their objective and their destination. If they are discovered to be law-abiding individuals, they will be released.
