Nigerian defensive midfielder has continued to enjoy overwhelming praises from Nigerians following his brilliant goal against the Algerians. The Hapoel Be’er player got Nigeria on the score-sheet in 62 mins with a left footed stunning strike that kept the goalkeeper unmoved.
The match was Ogu’s first start for Nigeria under Gernot Rohr and according to him the goal is a reward for his sacrifice. Two weeks before the match, the player said he had to pay for his treatment personally after he sustained an injury during a match for his club side.
On Twitter, Nigerians are full of praise for the player, urging him to fight for his shirt in the eagles first eleven. He was also said to be better than the likes of Mikel Agu and Onazi, but some believe the player should not be judged based on the goal alone.
Nigeria ended the match in a draw after the referee gave a questionable penalty to the Algerians, leveling Ogu’s goal.

John Ogu might as well have scored himself into Russia 2018 for all I care. This is a battle for shirts!
