Former Director General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Otunba Lanre Ipinmisho, has joined the league of politicians jostling for the Kogi State governorship seat come 2016.
After much consideration and consultations, few days ago Ipinmisho stormed the National Secretarial of the All Progressive Congress party in Abuja to pick up his Guber nomination form. And those who are conversant with happenings in Kogi State hinted that come November 21st, 2015, Ipinmisho’s chances of winning the elections are very bright having served in different capacities in the past.
It would be recalled that the erudite legal practitioner performed tremendously well during his days at NDLEA. With rigour and tenacity, he fought against drug trafficking and dissipated all his energy on sanitizing the society and creating a peaceful environment for all.
During his tenure, he modernised the NDLEA and extended the scope of the agency within the country. He also employed thousands of people to beef up the agency’s operations.
It was also during his tenure that the United States of America removed Nigeria from the drug list.
He also made sure that the court, the prison officials and every other stakeholder discharged their duties judiciously and brought whoever erred to book. This good profile according to people who should know would win him the consciousness of many voters as the elections draw nearer.
