Diamond bank’s Techfest 2018 started on a very high note yesterday as thousands of people trooped into Landmark event center, Lekki, Lagos to witness the opening of the grand event.
Techfest, which was a convergence of startups companies and technology players, was well attended by students, business owners, technology players, media experts and many in other fields of life and same is expected today.
Among the technology players that came to showcase its services at the event include Microsoft, MTN, VISA, Interswitch, Deloitte, wennovation Hub while some of the startups include Dropque.com, an online job recruiter platform own by four young boys in the age bracket of 25-30, Schoolmo.com, which provides students’ data, Gerocare, who provides regular physician home visits for the elderly via technology, Afrimash and many others.
According to Diamond bank CEO, Uzoma Dozie, Techfest is an initiative that provides relevant product education, new technology and geeks, tech solutions, tech devices and gadgets, and new technologies to participants.
In his words: “The whole essence of Techfest is to demystify technology. Here we are not just talking about developers or engineers, instead, we are looking at how to use technology to scale up education, health, etc. In other words, we are looking at how to use technology to increase productivity and create convenience for the customers.”
Echoing Dozie’s line of thought is Yemi Saka of Deloitte. According to him, at Techfest, attendees would have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, to meet with lots of top technology players that will help them in knowing new technologies and trends that can help businesses in Nigeria.
He said: “The idea is to build an ecosystem where we can further grow our innovation within Nigeria. The idea is to create an information technology for startups that will enable them grow. So I’m very excited to be part of this grand making event.”
Yemi also added that the event will bring about industrial revolution to the Nigerian business, by helping to change things from manual to digital as the world has gone digital, hereby making work easier for businesses and creating an exciting economy.
The event continues today and many are expected to grace the event.
