Hon. Adekunle Akinlade of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has been announced the winner of the party’s gubernatorial primaries that took place on Tuesday in all the 236 wards of the state.
The announcement was done by the State Party Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta.
Derin, in his announcement on behalf of the party faithful, noted that the primary was done through a Secret Ballot system with a total number of 201,620 valid votes.
Which Adekunle Akinlade had 190,987, Dapo Abiodun, 3,648; Abimbola Ashiru, 898; Jimi Lawal, 5,046, Adegbenga Kaka, 833; Abayomi Hunye 208 respectively.
When asked why the announcement of the result was not done by the National Working Committee, Adebiyi disclosed that the NWC had refused to come for the election for no reason and that because of the committee, the primary was rescheduled from Sunday to Tuesday based on the excuses of printing ballot paper.
He said since the committee had refused to show up during the primaries in the wards and local governments for no reason, the party’s guidelines were followed.
